Medicare Offers New Plan Finder For Open Enrollment

The Medicare Open Enrollment Period begins October 15, 2019 and runs through December 7, 2019.  During this time, you may switch from one Medicare Part D (prescription) plan to another, and from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another.

This
year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has introduced a new plan finder. It has several new features, is mobile-friendly, and is expected to make it easier for beneficiaries to research and compare Medicare Advantage and Part D plans. But on the downside, information that you have already entered into the old plan finder will not be integrated into the new finder. You will need to open up a new account and input your data from scratch. The old plan finder can still be accessed here. The new plan finder can be accessed here.

If you are happy with your current plan, you do not need to do anything during Open Enrollment. However, experts advise that it is always wise to review your current plan to make sure it continues to best serve your needs.

The monthly premium for Part D programs decreases in 2020, to $30 (was $31.83).
